So the weekend was great. Our drive up there at 4am was great no traffic in sight, and remarkably I was really awake and in quite a good mood. Now that is a rare scene. Must have been the fact that I knew I was up early for once on a Saturday morning for a reason of my own. We tried to go to bed early but I tossed and turned until about midnight so I got only about three hours of sleep before we left. This lead to a quick nap when we got there.

It turns out that I did not need the directions after all, all the times of heading up there in the dark paid off. This time there was so much light I saw things I had never seen before. It is so beautiful up there. The I-pod that I bought just after Christmas was a great thing to take. When we got up passed Huntsville there we down to a french, country and classic rock station it was nice to have a choice to hear something you knew you liked!

Pig roast was great this year. As you can see. There were a lot of drunk people again. I think that mom’s friends can party harder than my own. I did have a couple of drinks, but just can’t seem to find one that I actually like to get drunk. It was ok cause it meant that I wasn’t hung over the next day. I know the pictures are kind of disturbing from the pig roast cause I took pictures of the pig but this year I actually let myself eat some. Not much but some. I ate more of it the next day when Ian put some into the all day simmering over the wood stove brown beans/chili/goulash that was just amazing. Now that was a gas!

Mom’s dog Salem, which you can see in the picture below (no she is not a pig!) we often call Satan was rather calm up there. She normally likes to eat everything in sight including door knobs, frames and well pretty much anything she sees fit. Not up there, she is a big huge lap dog! She actually only had one spaz during the weekend and that is when the cabing was quite full. When Kenny tried to calm her down he caught her collar the wrong way and ended up pulling it off of her and in front of mom and Ian he smashed the metal clasp at the end of the collar into my mouth. So of course the guys man fun of Kenny for the rest of the weekend about beating me. For a second I though I was going to lose some teeth. The metal hook is quite heavy as mom’s dog is quite strong. I still have all my teeth but my mouth is still quite sore!

Fishing was ok we caught a few of them as you could see in the pictures. I caught a Rock Bass and then both of us caught a few Small Mouth Bass. Of course Kenny keeps telling me that mine was bigger but I think it’s just to get me to keep fishing. I think deep inside he thinks if he encourages me to fish I will like it more. He thinks I do it cause he likes to but I really enjoy the relaxing part of it. I mean I don’t mind the worms and the fish but the relaxation of knowing that nothing much is expected and you can tell stories when you return is what I enjoy!

Drive home was tiring and well I was drained and the shower felt so nice to get into. I mean I don’t mind showering in the lake water but it just felt nice to be home in our own shower. I was so tired today that I found myself dozing off almost at work. When I came home for work tonight I slept for a few hours, then I got up and made supper and will after a shower head back to bed. I was so lazy tonight that I made nachos for supper. I added some meat to these ones so that Kenny enjoyed them more.

The trip up North was great, we really had a great time. In fact I did not look forward to returning home cause it’s so beautiful up there and the air is so fresh. I wish that we could have had some more time off to that we could have stayed longer. It seems just like when you start relaxing it’s time to come home!!

I am very tired from driving the 5 hours back so I will have more on our trip tomorrow, but I have taken some time before I head to bed and added the pictures for you to enjoy!!

I am out of the shower and we are about to head on our way up North. The car is packed with all we need and probably more. Tim Horton's is our first stop. I am sort of awake and ready to drive. I think I have enough directions to make it there. Don’t worry no matter what happens I will be sure to bring back lot’s of pictures as the camera is fully charged and empty!!

Just thought I would wish everyone a great long (or normal) weekend. I will be sure to do some relaxing for you. In fact I might even have a drink or two!!

Well the long weekend is here. I made it through the week and I am still alive. I thought for a bit that some of the guys weren’t going to make it, but I decided that jail was not a good option cause I would be sure not to get up North. Ever notice how difficult people become before a long weekend?! It’s good though, we got the truck loaded before we left and so they did work a bit today. I told them that if I had to come in tomorrow they would really wish that they got all the work done that they needed to do cause I would be a really big b!tch!! I can actually say that after this blog entry I hope to not think of work at all until Monday night and if I really try hard, when I have to get up to go there Tuesday morning!!

I cleaned the car out tonight when I got home, it wasn’t really that dirty but I figured that if I was going to be driving it for 5 hours that I couldn’t have it be dirty. I mean I am sure that it will get dirty, but since I have OCD it makes me feel much better to know that it was clean before I left. Let's face it I am just weird. Just like my last shower before I leave it will be just the same as when I get back, long and hot, The best part is that I am cleaning up the house too before I go so it should still be that clean when we get back!

A few of you asked where up North we are going. We are heading up to North Bay, which from Woodstock is about a 4 ½ - 5 hour drive if you don’t want to get too many tickets, and trust me I have enough. If you look on a map of Ontario you actually have to flip to the other side to see where we are going. In fact I am just trying to find the directions right now. I am pretty sure that I could find it using my memory BUT that is because I go by things that I see along the way and if something burnt down or something was built we might get lost in the middle of no where and there is no phone service in the part that I am not 100% about!!

Since I was loading my I-pod I just thought I would give you a little update. I hope you all get to relax this weekend, whether you have a long one or not!!

Song of the day: Let’s Take A Ride - Justin Timberlake (yes I do listen to him and I don't care who knows it!!)

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-05-25T01:44:06Z</dcterms:modified>

Warm and happy...

So tonight we spent getting ready for our trip up North. I think we might have over packed but I know that having more clothes is better than not having enough, so we should be at least warm for sure cause I think I packed our whole closet of hoodies. LOL By that I mean that I mean I have my own hoodies and Kenny has our hoodies. Nothing is better that wearing your man’s oversized hoodies!!

I finally got a few emails out to a few people that have been sitting in my draft box. Including one to a second cousin that recently found my sister-in-law online and figured that it was me. It’s funny I had no idea what she was doing and when she told me that she had been traveling the world for the last 6 years I was surprised. Not too sure why, I don’t know what I expected her to be doing. I am very happy that we can get to know each other again through email and maybe even in person one day, as she is living in NY.

I did nothing for the wedding because we had family supper and now I am just waiting for my work clothes to finish drying. I am so tired and want to head to bed very soon as I know that tomorrow will be chaos trying to get all the product out the door. I can not seem to add anymore pictures here again so I guess I have to wait until next month to post more.

Song of the day: Holiday - Madonna

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-05-18T02:14:04Z</dcterms:modified>

The big drive...

(for the complete story so that you understand please read the previous blog)

So at 5am yesterday we got to bed, we were back up at 10am to get ready for the drive to pick up the car that was left behind. We ate a little bit of oatmeal just to keep us warm and going. Phil said that since he is laid off right now and isn't in a huge hurry to get home would offer his services with his full size truck to pick up the car, and so the search began to find something to put the car in/on in order to get it back home. The few people that we knew in town that had car dolly/trailer were not at home, I figure they were getting all their Christmas shopping done, which is what I should have been doing!! LOL So I thought we should try U-HAUL, and it worked almost perfectly...they found us one right away...but in the far side of Hamilton. None the less they had one and it was our only hope without having to pay a million dollars to have it towed back from Toronto to Woodstock. The only big problem was that the dolly had to be back to their shop that night so that someone could rent it this morning for 7am. That now meant we had to drive to the far side of Hamilton to pick it up, to Toronto to get the car, back to Woodstock to drop the car off, then take the dolly back to Hamilton and finally go back home to Woodstock. It was going to be a long day for sure!!

So off we go on our adventure to get the car. First stop the far side of Hamilton with just a few directions from the (very unhappy, grumpy, not in the Christmas mood) U-HAUL woman to get us there, even then I wasn't sure they would get us there. She seemed so lost herself when giving them, in fact she double checked with one of her co-workers on a few of them. Turns out that I had been there before for a dolly I found out, so this made it easier to get there. It just made our drive to rescue the car about an hour and a half longer. So we get to U-HAUL and I was right the lady behind the counter was a stuck up b!tch (you heard me right), I mean if you hate your job that much quit!! She took all of our info, very rudely I might add and got one of the guys to hook us up and we were on our way. Ever driven with the dolly on the back of a truck? I haven’t either. LOL It is just so loud and bouncy, good thing Phil can drive with a trailer.

We ventured our way through the traffic back to the parking lot with ease. Guess I know that area of Toronto a bit than I thought I did....now. I was hoping to get pictures of the puddle of tranny fluid we left behind, the boats that dad and I looked at in the dark, some of the people skating and of course loading the car. I knew I most likely would have the time cause I figured we had to get in and out real fast so we didn’t have to pay too much for parking. I was right! Besides I have a small bladder and had to pee really bad. It was a grand total of $21 to park there overnight, and $3 for us to go in and pick up the car. Not bad for Toronto really, I expected like 1/4 million or so.

Our ride back we were all pretty tired. Phil said that he would take back the dolly so that we could work on the car, and that is what happened. We are lucky that Kenny has access to the shop, which has a hoist. We also had access to some fuel injection line that was rated fro high pressure so we used that to fix the severely rotted out line. I took some pictures of him while he was having fun fixing the car check out the "2006 Kenny and I" album. We are fine and now so is the car. I just have to catch up on all the painting I was supposed to get done, which I would do tonight, but I need to catch up on sleep first!!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-12-19T15:20:10Z</dcterms:modified>

What a night...or should I say morning...

So we left for Toronto and we got stuck in a little bit of traffic along the way. I remembered half way there that I forgot my camera and that really sucked cause this was dad's first NHL hockey game and I wanted to have some pictures for him to look back on. Not too sure what is up with that?? I normally take that camera everywhere, seems I have been forgetting it a lot lately??

We missed the first period of the game and when we showed up the score was 5 - 1 for the Leafs, which was perfect. All of us had our jerseys on except Phil who wore a Leafs t-shirt, Kenny offered him a jersey but he wanted to be subtle. The game was great cause the fans were pumped, and it's always good when the home team you are cheering for is winning. The seats were great and felt like the exact same ones we had last year....turns out that they are!! LOL Kenny’s favorite player decided got hit by the puck and was taken out of the game, a little disappointing for him I am sure. There was only a little bit of shoving tonight, nothing to write home about, which kind of made me sad. I like the fights, they make hockey fun! Maybe they should think of crossing hockey with UFC?? Anyone with me?? The final score was 9 - 2 Leafs with them scoring their final goal in the last ten seconds of the game. So everyone was loud for the end of the game and pumped as they left and filled the streets. I thought how perfect what a great end to the night.....man was I wrong....our night was far from over!!

The game ended and we took the scenic way back to the car taking thanks to Phil and his great sense of direction, but it allowed us to take in all the weirdness that makes Toronto so great. LOL We even got to see Jimmy Page's twin who had fallen on some hard times and was playing his guitar underneath the tunnel. It was sad to see this man playing for such little change in the cooler weather, you could tell he was homeless and trying hard to make some money, his guitar skills were ok and it did keep us entertained during our walk back to the car. We found our way quite easy back to where we had parked, the car looked to be good, still there and full of windows. Hey in Toronto anything could happen!? We finish our cigarettes and climb in the car. Start it up and go to leave the parking lot, the car backs out of the spot and we stop and I put it into drive and voila...no gears!! Nothing...then it jumps into gear...than nothing....then it jumps into gear....then nothing! We made it out of the lot we were in and I ended up pulling into the next driveway. Checked the tranny fluid and nothing. Went back to see where we were parked and wow, a huge puddle!

Now we are next to the parking lot, in a driveway, where only courier's are supposed to stop, so illegal, it’s dark you can’t see crap but we finally agreed that we needed more fluid. I call Kenny’s mom cause I know that she just had her car in for service (we took hers cause we figured people would be more comfortable in it) It turns out that she just had the car in for service and they were supposed to have inspected the tranny when the replaced the fluid. (I wondered how they could not notice the extremely rusty tranny line). So Phil and Kenny went for fluid and my father and I stayed to watch the car.

I was not mad at all, how could I be mad when in all reality we were all ok. So I laughed, I found the whole thing to be rather funny, I guess I just felt so safe really. I might have had a vehicle that didn't work but who better to be stranded with then my fiancé and my father, and Uncle Phil. Really it was the best time for me as a driver to be stranded. So I took it upon myself to find a flashlight. I figured that is a woman came to your car looking for one you were more likely to lend it to her. A very nice man had one in his van, so I borrow it. Yep, just as I figured, the whole line that runs the bottom of the car was rotten. There was no helping this line, anything metal on it squished as I touched it. Now I needed to somehow be able to show Kenny when he got back. So I tried to buy the flashlight off of him, he would not take our money, yes the man was nice enough to give it to us. It gave me a whole new perspective of Toronto, maybe the place was a little friendlier than I though. Or maybe he was just a little more in the Christmas spirit? I can say it was the nicest thing that a stranger has ever done for me. If I knew how to get this man a new one I would send him one and more. Not like it was cheap throw away, it was a beautiful Mag light, like this thing for sure was worth $50.

To fill our time waiting for the guys to get back we walked down the lakefront which was about 30 feet from where we had stopped. The wind was cool but dad lent me his jacket to keep me warm. They had a free skating rink where the public could skate, some little masted ships, some larger boats docked for Christmas parties, everything was just so much fun to see which made the fact that we were stranded not that bad. I wished then that I had brought my camera, cause the city really looks cool all lit up at night. It was nice to spend time with just my father and I. It has been a long time since that has happened. I think I was just a kid and he had actually brought me to Toronto to the CNE just him and myself. It was nice!

It turned out that when the guys got back and Kenny looked at the leak, he agreed there was no fixing it at 11:30 pm on a Saturday night. Now we had to make a plan. We ended up talking to a lot of people but they were either not home, drunk, didn't have a big enough vehicle! Finally we got a hold of my uncle who had a large enough vehicle said that we would come and get us. So now we had two more hours to wait. So we made sure that we could park back in the parking lot we had parked in earlier overnight. Finding out that was ok and not going to be too expensive we pushed the car back into the parking lot. We made fun of the Jetson towers which were what we called the building across from the lot (resembled something you would see on the Jetson's cartoon), watched the whores walking the streets, the fancy cars driving by, people in their apartments, we had some dry pizza, listened to some oldies, and waited. My uncle showed up it turns out that I wasn't on the street that any of us thought we were. LOL But he found us and got us home! Tune in tomorrow as the adventure continues....

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-12-18T22:50:40Z</dcterms:modified>

Ya...about the weekend...

could it be any shorter?? And could my entry be any longer??

Friday night we packed ourselves up and drove out to Innerkip and picked up my niece, my brother and of course some beer and smokes. We then started out the journey making sure to hook up the DVD player right away, cause that of course was going to make our lives easier and quieter.... LOL !! It's funny when I was hooking it up I actually found myself amazed by the whole thing really, to think you could have a DVD player right in your car with you so you can watch it whenever you'd like. To keep people occupied during a drive cause we are not that creative anymore!! What ever happened to counting cows and losing them when you hit a cemetery?? Looking around at all the new places?? Playing cards?? It has a nice size screen and you can either put the speakers on it or just used the head phones. There are two sets and they are cordless, other than the fact that they die fairly fast they were a great idea...right?? Well not really...you know when a kid has on ear phones they don't realize that when they talk and sing the songs in the movie they are really yelling. Really quite amusing some of the time...you know....adults are the same sometimes though...you know when you thought you knew the words but you didn't...and you think people might have caught on...so you make some up and keep hoping that no one noticed... She watched the same movie over and over an over and over and over. In fact I think that she had it on more times than a normal TBS feature weekend!! The feature of the ride, both there and back was everyones favorite...a really poorly redone Cinderella, I know cause I sat in the back with her on the way home!! It took us about 5 hours to get there and we were all ready for bed once we arrived, except Tori, who was ready to go fishing, swimming and finish off her sticker book. I don't know when she actually went to sleep cause Kenny and I slept in the Auto Parts Cottage (work van with the futon mattress in it), which was nice cause we got to sleep in.

Saturday we got up around noon and sat around chatting about what was new and such before heading down to the dock to do some fishing. We knew that it was going to be a rainy day so we made sure that the satalite was programmed to turn to the race later that night. Really it's one of the only things we have at the cottage that makes it not a 100% cottage. We fished here and there when it wasn't pouring, and I managed to catch myself a nice size pickeral, that Tori named Sarah, and told us that she was going to keep her as a pet. We decided to keep Sarah in cause we caught more and then we might just have a meal. We would eventually have to explain to Tori that eating fishes is ok! For supper since we didn't catch more fish (well I did but I dropped it back in the lake trying to put it into the fish keeper) we ate Ollie burgers, which are Ian's own recipe, and also the best burgers that I have ever ate in my life. They are huge and so full of flavour.....mmmmmmm.....I have troubles just eating one. Shawn and Kenny decided to see who could break the record and eat three. They both did, which was funny for me but I am sure painful for them. We watched the race and by the end we were all ready to go to sleep.

Sunday we also slept in a bit, but when we woke we spent the day fishing, and I mean I fished the whole day!! I fished on the dock, in the boat and because we didn't catch anything in the boat, back on the dock! With no luck at all, I didn't even give up when it got dark and all the bugs came out. I still did not catch anything. Shawn decided part way through the day that he should try water skiing this actually broke up the bordom of me not being able to catch anything, so I sat on the dock fishing and watching him. He actually did pretty good, the third time he tried he was standing. Although nothing made me laugh harder than watching him try to take off from the dock the first time, he kind of looked like Superman and did a face plant in the lake. Not too much else to tell, cause all I did was fish and I didn't get anything except a really bad sunburn.

Monday morning we got ready to come back. Tori spent some time swimming and fishing and suprisingly she left without crying this time!! The ride home was of course longer than the ride there with a few more spots of dumb drivers slowing to watch people pulled over or broken down on the side of the road. The movie of choice was Cinderella as mentioned ealier. I did however get to watch a bit of Fabulous 4, who knows when I will ever have time to watch the rest.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-07-07T03:28:09Z</dcterms:modified>

Ya...I like...

having a sunburn and being bit by skeeters in weird places.....

Too bad that the long weekend ended...guess it really had no choice since no one decided to stop the sun from travelling around the earth. I did think that I put an order in for that before I left for up north, guess they didn't read that one right.

So ya, the short lived cottage life is over....but we did have a great time and we made it back safely!! I do however have lot's of pictures and funny stories to share with you later. As well as a lot of laundry to do right now.

LOL

So I will tell you all about it tomorrow...

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-07-07T03:32:38Z</dcterms:modified>

Up North we go...

In just a few hours we will be well on our way up to mom's cottage, and I can't wait. It is so nice to get out of Woodstock sometimes...well most of the time. I am so excited that I have been literally hopping around work. Which I am sure is anoying...but I just can't wait!!

I know that the rest of the afternoon is going to drag by just cause I am so excited, well pretty sure, it did last May 24 when we were going up there. The wait doesn't stop there cause I am sure there will be a bit of traffic on our way there, we are hoping to miss it by not leaving until 7, so I imagine by the time we get there it will be around midnight-ish.

The DVD player should keep Tori and I plenty busy while she is awake, an me busy when she is asleep. I have a lot of DVD's that a friend burnt me like two winters ago that I still haven't watched. LOL Like Ladder 49 and Ocean's 12. I just don't have time or feel like sitting down to watch a movie I guess.

I think this will also allow Kenny an my brother to bond, I think I might give up the co-pilot seat part of the way there. They can chat about man-ly-ish things! LOL This might also give me some time to catch up on some sleep, that is if Tori goes to sleep! I took her up there once and she had to stop to pee at every gas station that we passed, it took me 7 1/2 hours to get there.

Anyways, back to inventory I go.....

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-06-30T19:18:13Z</dcterms:modified>

See you...

after the weekend. We are leaving town and going up north to mom's cottage. We have a baby sitter lined up for the weekend for the cats. (Kenny's mom) I sure that she will have fun spoiling them while we are gone, or just cleaning up their huge amounts of stuff they leave behind in the box. LOL

I am just so excited to get out of this town and go away with Kenny. Last night we started putting everything together so that we will be ready to go withough too much work. Not too sure what time we want to leave at but I think that early evening might be best so that we miss some of the traffic.

Even the fact that it might rain all weekend doesn't seem to make the trip look all that bad. I think that we just needed some time away. Besides I am sure that i could find myself a really nice rain coat at Canadian Tire.

We even made a "cottage" folder with music in it to put on his i-pod for the drive. There will be no gblogging as there we are in the middle of nowhere, not even my cell phone work there, and you have to go to the outhouse to go to the bathroom. Oh the fun!!

So no blogs, but I will be sure to get lots of pictures of our good times!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-05-30T20:34:47Z</dcterms:modified>

I scored more than the leafs...

The drive was good, not too much traffic, and well.....we didn't get lost and my little car is still in one piece! I have learnt that just cause you think you are a good driver doesn't mean you are, in Toronto they make up the rules of the road as they are driving, and it's never the same rule twice.

When I walked in the hotel I was quite impressed, it was absolutely gorgeous, just like the pictures on the website. There was a beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby that I really wanted to take home except I didn't think I could get it out of there without anyone noticing and I couldn't fit it in my car. Besides I am sure the cats would have wrecked it in 24 hours.

Our room was amazing, clean and huge. I even felt good bout having a shower in a shower that wasn't mine. We were on the 9th floor and there was beautiful buildings from the half of the room that consisted of windows. On the 22nd floor there was a hot tub that faced out over the city, the view was amazing at night when we found it so I was really mad that I never thought to bring a suit.

Supper was delicious, we grabbed a quick bite at Jack Astors before the game, I had the chicken Fajita's washed down by a couple of ceasers, and everything was absolutely yummy!

I didn't know what to expect when I got into the arena. It was bigger and busier than I expected. Lights everywhere, ads, and so much more energy than my living room, or anyone else's that I have tried to watch hockey in. I have just come to the conclusion that a live hockey game is just 10 million times better than watching it on TV, in fact I find that you don't fall asleep when you watch it live! Toronto lost to Dallas 2 - 1, but it was the best game I have ever watched.

We stopped for a few drinks after the game in a bar that you could smoke in, that's right beer in one hand and smoke in the other. This confused me cause I am pretty sure that it was in the Eaton's center and Toronto is pretty serious about this no smoking in public thing?!?!?

We got a good nights rest ;o) and even slept in a bit. Then we walked down the street to this little cafe I guess you could call it for went for the worlds best and largest breakfast. I almost exploded by the time I was done my omelet it tasted so good that I had to eat it all. I think that was the best trip I have ever been on.....

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-03-01T21:49:44Z</dcterms:modified>
